Speaking to Baghdad Today website, the source said, “ troops of al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces) killed a suicide attacker, wearing a suicide belt, in a village in Hatra region, southwest of Mosul, before he blew up himself.” Moreover, the military intelligence department announced today confiscating suicide belts and explosives in west of Mosul. On Monday, security troops reportedly killed five suicide attackers in a village in Hammam al-Alil, south of Nineveh. Islamic State continues to launch sporadic attacks across Iraq against troops. Security reports indicate that the militant group still poses threat against stability in the country. A total of 115 Iraqi civilians, excluding policemen, were killed and another 250 injured in acts of terrorism, violence and armed conflict in Iraq in January 2018, according to casualty figures recorded by the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI). Diyala (IraqiNews.com) The Central Criminal Court have sentenced three Islamic State members to life after they admitted transferring food commodities and money to families of the group members in Diyala, a judicial source said on Thursday. Speaking to Alghad Press, the source said the court reviewed the lawsuit of the three IS members. “The suspects used to work with the group. Their mission was to deliver the food commodities and money to families of the group members in Diyala.” “They confessed during investigations that they used to take the food supply from one person then from another after the first one was arrested. The other one was later arrested,” the source added. The court, according to the source, “found enough evidence against the suspects and sentenced to life, in accordance with law provisions.” Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi declared victory over the militant group, previously in December, however, observers wa that the group still poses a security threat with sleeper cells. Inteational coalition aircraft Anbar (IraqiNews.com) Iraq’s military command said an armed group was bombarded by U.S.-led coalition warplanes early Saturday in Anbar, a few hours after news reports said the jets mistakenly hit a local police officer and civilians. The Joint Operations Command’s War Media Cell said that coalition warplanes struck an “armed group” in al-Baghdadi region, west of the province during a hunt for a terrorist element. “The JOC possessed accurate intelligence information about the presence of a terrorist leader, Karim al-Samarmad, at a house in Baghdadi for a meeting preparing for an attack against security forces and citizens”, the command said in a statement. It added that army forces, backed by coalition jets, moved to the area. Finishing the collection of evidence, the forces pulled back, only to detect “a gathering of gunmen”, which “aircraft targeted without coordination with the assigned force”, as the statement put it. Iraq’s oil output is expected to reach five million barrels per day by end-2017 (Reuters) Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Iraq has announced signing an agreement with the U.S. firm Orion to invest in natural gas extracted from an oilfield, located south of Iraq, and tu into usable fuel.The memorandum of understanding signed between the Iraqi Ministry of Oil and the U.S. firm representatives allows building facilities to capture the gas from Nahr bin Omar oilfield in Basra province, Reuters reported. The ministry has not revealed yet the volume of investments in the oilfield or the expected revenues. Earlier this month, the ministry announced reaching an agreement Orion to invest in the associated natural gas from the southe oilfield, operated by the state-run Basra Oil Company, which produces more than 40,000 barrels of crude oil and 25 million cubic feet of gas daily.
