Speaking to Baghdad Today news website, the source said, “The U.S.-led inteational coalition carried out an airstrike in coordination with the Nineveh Operations Command, targeting Islamic State remnants in Badush village in northweste Mosul.” “The air raid left six Islamic State militants dead and one of their tunnels completely destroyed,” the source pointed out. Iraqi troops arrest a man and take him to a lock-up for interrogation Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Security troops have arrested an Islamic State members, along with one of his relatives in Mosul, the local affairs department in Nineveh said on Sunday. “Troops managed to arrest an Islamic State leader, along with one of his relatives who is an army conscript, while he was at the nationality department in Nineveh,” the statement added. “The leader was recognized by the intelligence sources of the department,” it said, adding that the militant used to work at the group’s Hisbah ( vigilantism) department. His relative, according to the statement, knew about his involvement with IS and that he facilitated smuggling him to Baghdad after liberation of Nineveh. The two suspects were extradited to authorities in question so legal measures would be taken. Kirkuk  (IraqiNews.com) The ceasefire truce agreed between Iraqi forces and Kurdish Peshmerga troops remains prone to collapsing, a senior Peshmerga commander was quoted saying on Thursday. Sirwan Barzani, a commander of the Makhmur zone in Peshmerga, told London-based Alhayat that “ceasefire truce between Baghdad and Erbil remains fragile, and Peshmerga remain on alert”. Explaining his statement, Barzani said “there are no guarantees from Baghdad or the Popular Mobilization Forces (for sustaining the truce)”. Makhmur, which falls to the west of Erbil, Kurdistan Region’s capital, is a home to an Arab majority and a Kurdish minority. It was the stage of a military standoff between the two sides last October. Iraqi forces took over Makhmur and other regions disputed with Kurdistan in October in response to a referendum the autonomous region held in September when a majority of citizens voted for independence from Iraq, a step which Baghdad deemed unconstitutional. Both govements have recently exchanged official visits in order to resolve the crisis that resulted from the referendum, with reports suggesting an approach towards a resolution.
